This is just a few ramblings about the attitude we have towards the way we focus on Gods words.

[Matthew 5:50]

Ye are therefore commanded to be perfect, even as your Father who is in heaven is perfect.

God desires us to build a spiritually mature, Godly character in this life, becoming ever more like Him.  How do we build eternal, godly character? by remaining faithful to what is right despite pulls to the contrary.

We should with all our strength, resist the temptation to do things we know we shouldn’t. If we live by the faith that God will give us the strength to endure whatever trials we face in this life, as we should do, then life may be challenging but the rewards are immense.

But when we compromise and don’t hold fast to or faith as we all do from time to time, we tear down that character that the Lord desires us to build. Every time we give in, and compromise to conform and make our life (superficially) more hassle free we may find it that much harder to resist giving in the next time we face temptation.

One of the horrible things about compromise is that it spreads. If we get away with something once, we find it much easier to try it again next time. Compromise left un corrected will grow like a disease It can start with little things like “oh I don’t have time for study today ill catch up tomorrow” or “well I don’t need to offer prayer over this fast food I just purchased” It comes on slowly, then spreads. That is why God says that, if our actions aren’t done in faith or according to faith, if they violate our conscience, in short, we are sinning.

We need to be sure that what we do is out of faith and confidence that it is right and acceptable to God. We need to be confident that our motives are right, and our conscience remains clear in everything we do.

For this reason, I believe it is vital that we open our hearts and minds and properly educate our conscience so that it is in accordance with God’s Word, in scripture.

This can be a difficult exercise as when we start to understand the rule book that God has given us we realise how much we all sin and this can be an uncomfortable experience for many, to face the truth.

We are all born with a moral code inside us, that is the influence of the Christs Holy Spirit, It is not within our natural ability to always discern right and wrong

I believe We are to learn God’s teachings that show us how to define right and wrong ..

[Hebrews 5:14]

But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

God wants us to live within the boundaries and standards He has set for us, to change our values, attitudes, thoughts and lives so they are in line with His standards, not our own. The process of conversion though hard at times simply replaces our rule book with Gods and that is what gives us the rewards we all seek
