[James 4:6-10]4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double-minded.
4:9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep; let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

God works according to laws. It is a natural law that if we humble ourselves under God’s mighty hand, surrendering our own will and honor, then He will give us the grace that we need to live a life in truth and integrity.
To be humble is to have the same mindset as Jesus Christ. He existed in the form of God, but did not consider equality with God a thing to be grasped, or held onto. Instead, He took on the form of a servant, and came in the likeness of men.
Philippians 2:7-82:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men;
2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Humility is not a sign of weakness as some might say it is a sign of strength. Without the ability to Humble ourselves it is difficult to see how we can pull ourselves away from the trappings of the world. the more you Put humility before the desire to be self serving the closer you will draw to God and the closer you Draw to god the more humble you become.
Proverbs 11:2When pride cometh, then cometh shame; but with the lowly is wisdom.
