[Zechariah 7:9]
Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother;
This Verse calls us to live out two crucial aspects of our faith: justice and compassion.
“Execute true judgment”
urges us to practice fairness and integrity in all our dealings. It is a reminder that God values justice and expects us to uphold truth in our actions and decisions. True judgment is not swayed by personal bias or gain but is rooted in righteousness and fairness, reflecting God’s own nature.
Equally important is the call to “shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother.”
Mercy involves forgiving others and showing kindness, even when it is not deserved. Compassion goes a step further, calling us to empathise with others, to share in their suffering, and to offer support and comfort.
This dual command to practice justice and mercy encapsulates the heart of God’s law—loving our neighbors as ourselves.
