[Judges11:29] Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead, and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gilead, and from Mizpeh of Gilead he passed over unto the children of Ammon.

There is a hush in the heart when we read such a verse. Jephthah, the castaway, the unwanted son, becomes the vessel of the living God. What wonder is this, that Heaven stoops not to the proud palaces, but lifts the broken man from the dust and sets him on a holy path?

We are reminded here that imperfect pasts do not disqualify us. They prepare us. Jephthah’s exile, his battles in obscurity, his roughness of spirit, none of these barred the Spirit of the Lord from coming upon him. Indeed, God delights in redemption; He chooses not the untarnished but the willing.

We, too, carry scars that whisper of failure, rejection, and regret. Yet the Spirit moves not in spite of these things, but often because of them, weaving a greater tapestry than we dare dream.

When the Spirit moves, He does not consult our past. He consults His own mercy. Thus, we march forward like Jephthah, wounded perhaps but never discarded, called to fulfil a purpose far beyond our imagining.
