The Eternal Balance Within Us

I am sure may of us have known or do know someone with some sort of illness  so my question (mainly to my self ) is does  ill health impact on  how we treat the relationship we have with our Creator and how should we handle it.

This is a very shallow look at the subject and I accept there are many avenues left unexplored.  I merely want to put something out there that give us a vehicle to consider the subject more deeply .

I think that before I can really make a judgement on this I need to think about going back to the beginning….  by this I mean to open my Bible and have a look at what the text tells us about origin.

just a side note to say all verses quoted will be from the inspired version of the bible..

Genesis 1:27 And I, God, said unto mine Only Begotten, which was with me from the beginning, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and it was so.

So to me this that we are made in the image of God.  Now I accept that is a very broad concept and there have been may writings on the “image” and what that means so i will not dwell on it to long.

For the purpose of this paper I am going to look at the construct of the Trinity.

Man is a direct Mirror of the Eternal Father. Jesus though the Holy Spirit (which was a gift of the Holy Ghost) breathed life into us. The Father created all things spiritually First Including the two members of his Trinity that could directly express his thoughts in the physical.

If we move on to the next chapter

Genesis 2:8 And I, the Lord God, formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul; the first flesh upon the earth, the first man also;

so from this we can clearly see we as humans are living souls.

so how does it all work?

well I have put together a little diagram to see if I can explain my thought process on this.

everything in our body is interlinked

  • your body provides a conduit for you mind and spirit to communicate
  • your mind drives your body
  • your spirit guides your mind

so if I pause for a moment now this would be a good spot to consider my initial question…

Does ill  health impact on  how we treat the relationship we have with our Creator

I think it would be useful to look at each of the components and how it affects us if there is a fault

If your Body is in balance you have

  • Strength
  • Health
  • An appearance of youth

If it is not you have

  • Weakness
  • Illness and
  • Appearance of premature aging

If your Spirit is in balance you have

  • Happiness
  • Hope
  • Optimism

If not you have

  • Sadness
  • Hoplesness
  • Negativity

If your Mind is in balance you have

  • A selfless attitude
  • Faith
  • Mental Health

If not you have

  • Pride
  • Dispair
  • Mental Illness

I really think this may point to the answer but I think we should really consider that if we are broken in some way,  it is down to us to fix it as much as we can.

God can heal anyone, and sometimes he does, so miraculously, But most of the time, he doesn’t. Such an acknowledgment does not undermine God’s greatness or his goodness.

He has placed us in a world where we live within the boundaries of the very natural laws he created–and with the presence of disease, decay, and death.

Mental illness, like other diseases, is a reality of life in a world where parts of our body–including our brains–get sick and malfunction.

Mental health will have a bearing on our subconscious thoughts which in turn will affect our ability to connect with our creator.  But this does not mean that God is responsible for the Mental Health or any other health issue developing.

Faith can help to give us strength in times of illness and it does aid our healing in some circumstances but even Jesus accepts the role of doctors as can bee seen in

Luke 2:46
And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, and they were hearing him, and asking him questions

Jesus did not say don’t practice medicine for prayer alone will heel the sick

Perhaps people have forgotten that this body is merely a vessel to carry the spirit on a journey though its probation…..

So I think what this shows me is that by breaking this down, even just in a superficial way,  any form of malfunction in the body we inhabit will case a break in the circuit and can impact on our ability to communicate with out Heavenly Father.

We cannot expect our creator to heal all our ills that would defeat the purpose of life and the challenges he throws at us… We must keep our faith and ask for good health but also accept our fate with open arms and contentment.
